The full form of PAN is Permanent Account Number. It is issued by the Income Tax Department and is a combination of ten alphanumeric characters. The ten-digit alphanumeric is displayed in the given format- HBEFJ1234G. The first five letters are alphabets, the next 4 characters are the numbers and the last character is again an Alphabet. The PAN card is issued under section 139A of the Indian Income Tax Act 1961. It has been mandatory to link your PAN card with your Bank Account Number.
